Hundreds of gay men and women are expected to converge on Queenstown for the week starting on Saturday and so far organisers Sally and Mandy Whitewoods have sold more than 200 packages - a quarter of those to women.
"We have some slightly different events this year, with new organisers and a slightly different feel to it and we've got a lot more females coming because of it, " Sally Whitewoods said.
"It's always going to be predominantly male, but if we can get a good balance this year we can build on it next year." Mrs Whitewoods was confident most events would sell out because of Queenstown's "last minute" nature.
Sales had increased in the past seven days.
The week will begin with the opening party at the Ballarat Trading Company on Saturday.
Events both on and off the snow will continue throughout the week.
Sally Whitewoods said the choice of bar was hers as she wanted to offer something different for visitors who had previously attended Gay Ski Week and the Ballarat was "more intimate".
More than 100 tickets had been sold for the opening and closing parties.
Other events included ski days at Cardrona, winery tours in the Gibbston valley and a visit from Mr Gay World, Andreas Derleth, who will take part in a skydive on August 28.
Evening entertainment would include viewing of cult movie classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Arrowtown's Dorothy Brown's Cinema and the Casino Royale Gala Evening at Skyline.
"We've got people coming from all over the world to attend this year's event and with ticket sales going strong we know it will be a cracker of a week," Sally Whitewoods said.
Mrs Whitewoods encouraged locals to get involved with the spirit of the week and said everyone was welcome at events.
"Straight, gay, lesbian, regardless, this is a week for the whole community to enjoy.
"Let's all dig out the glitter and sequins, glam it up and show the rest of New Zealand, and the world, how to party," she said.
