An Ashburton man facing seven charges following an afternoon of violence has appeared in Christchurch District Court.
Rua Rimene, who police say has gang connections, has been charged with carrying a shotgun, robbing a woman using two knives and intentionally damaging Housing New Zealand property, as well as a string of driving offences.
The 23-year-old man was arrested yesterday afternoon alongside a 31-year-old man charged with possession of an offensive weapon.
The arrests came after concerned residents called police following an altercation between gang members.
Rimene will reappear in court on Thursday next week.
