Two people have been taken to hospital after a crash at the intersection of Avondale Road and Rosebank Road in Auckland.
St John Ambulance team leader Cat Valetine said two people were taken to Auckland City Hospital with minor injuries after the collision.
A third person was treated at the scene, but not taken to hospital.
Pedestrians were believed to be involved according to St John.
However, Dairy owner Alpesh Patel witnessed the crash and said a police car with sirens on trying to come out of Avondale Rd through traffic lights was involved in a collision with another car.
Mr Patel said he understood a policewoman driving the car was taken into an ambulance.
He said a woman driving the other car, which was heading northwest along Rosebank Rd but unable to stop in time for the police vehicle, was the other person taken to hospital.
He said her car mounted the footpath in front of a takeaway outlet across Avondale Rd from his dairy, stopping just short of crashing into the building.
A baby was in the rear of her car, in which there were another woman and a man, but he said the infant appeared to be calm after the crash.
