The death of a person whose body was found on an Auckland beach this morning is being treated as unexplained, police say.
The body was found at Ladies Bay in St Heliers this morning.
A post-mortem examination would be carried out tomorrow, police spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty said.
The results would determine whether a homicide investigation would be launched, she said.
Police were today making inquiries to determine the person's identity.
