Teen arrested over daylight Auckland rape

A Mt Roskill teenager has been charged with rape over a vicious daylight attack on a woman at an Auckland school.

The 27-year-old woman was left traumatised and unable to speak after the assault at Mt Roskill Intermediate on Tuesday last week.

She had been walking home from work through the grounds of the school when she was approached by a man at 5.28pm.

Police this afternoon said a 17-year-old man had been been arrested over the attack.

He will appear in Auckland Youth Court charged with assault with Intent to commit rape, aggravated wounding, unlawful sexual connection and rape.

At the time, Inspector Gary Allcock said her injuries were "serious'' and counted it among the worst he had seen in 28 years of policing.
