A 10km-long diesel slick has left the Northwestern Motorway very slippery, police say.
They warned motorists to be extremely careful after the "extensive'' spill over a 10km stretch between Rosebank Road and Te Atatu Road westbound.
Contractors were on their way to clear the spill but delays were inevitable.
