Sports broadcaster Tony Veitch has been dumped from TVNZ's Olympics reporting team - two days after he admitted an assault which put his former partner in hospital.
Veitch was suspended from Radio Sport yesterday and today TVNZ axed him as host of the networks' Beijing Olympics team.
TVNZ chief executive Rick Ellis confirmed to Newtalk ZB this afternoon that Veitch would not be involved in TVNZ's Olympic coverage.
Earlier this week Veitch was stood down as sports presenter from One News.
Police announced yesterday it had assigned an investigator to look at claims Veitch had broken four bones in former partner Kristin Dunne-Powell's back during the assault in 2006.
Ms Dunne-Powell did not lodge a complaint and media reports earlier this week said Veitch had paid her $100,000 to keep quiet about the assault and the pair agreed to say she fell on stairs.
