Cheers, applause and amazement from a sold-out audience greeted a dazzling collection of creations on the catwalk of the Wallace & Gibbs Art 2 Wear Show, part of the Arrowtown Autumn Festival, on Friday.

"Mad Hatter's Tea Party", designed by Bridget Paape and Val McMillan, both of Arrowtown, was judged the best in the story books and fairy tales category.

Milly Begley, of Lower Shotover, won in the avant garde category for her towering design, "Moana the Friendly Siren".

"Dress of a Thousand Cranes", designed by Jil Leydon and Keiko van Wyngaarden, both of Arrowtown, won the culture category. Charlotte Graf, of Arrowtown, won the organic category, and the people's choice award for her design, "Cage Free", modelled by Denise Henkenhaf, of Arrowtown.

Category winners won $500 each and the people's choice winner won $250, plus a $100 gift basket from Arrowtown Pharmacy.
