LivestockOffice is used by livestock and grazing brokering firms throughout the country and is the only specialised livestock brokering software developed in New Zealand for local conditions.
It also had potential to be used internationally, which was the company's focus for the immediate future.
The package included debtors, creditors, cashbook and general ledger and could handle all types of sales including private, grazing and auction.
Mrs Scott's daughters encouraged her to enter the award, after seeing it advertised in a CRT shareholders' magazine, and she was "extremely proud" to represent Otago-Southland and to achieve so much with her company.
Mrs Scott had more than 20 years' experience in the market, a solid client base and a proven product, Rural Women New Zealand national president, Liz Evans, said.
The judges were also impressed that the company had not stood still and was meeting today's market using e-sales and mobile phone technology, Mrs Evans said.
The Telecom North Island Award 2012 was won by Kylie Gibbard of Emkay Ltd, a specialty bra manufacturing business based at Koputaroa, near Levin.
Rose Voice, from The Real Dog Equipment Company in Ranfurly, won the Fly Buys Online Business Award and was also the overall winner of the Enterprising Rural Women Award.
