A small church on the outskirts of Dunedin features in the just released trailer for Hollywood film The Light Between Oceans.
Parts of the Dreamworks film were shot at several spots in and around Dunedin including Port Chalmers, which had its main street and footpath covered in dirt to fit the film's 1920s period.
Part of the film was also shot in the Central Otago village of St Bathans.
The film also stars Rachel Weisz and up-and-coming star Alicia Vikander, who just won the best supporting actress Oscar for her role as the wife of a transgender artist in The Danish Girl.
The film, directed by Derek Cianfrance and based on the book with the same name, tells the story of a lighthouse keeper and his wife who are living off the coast of Western Australia and decide to raise a baby they rescue from an adrift rowboat.
The film is scheduled for release on September 2.
