Two Irish wolfhounds have been put down after a woman was seriously hurt during a dog attack in Dunedin this morning.
The woman was attacked in Walter St about 6.30am.
A St John spokesman said she was transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries - "puncture wounds and bite wounds".
The Dunedin City Council said the dogs' owner has taken responsibility for the attack and already had two of the dogs euthanised.
The council's animal services department was investigating the involvement of the third dog - also an Irish wolfhound - to see if further action needed to be taken.
