Tokoroa mother Julie King has organised a nationwide protest with a Facebook page called ''Aotearoa bans the sale and distribution of legal highs in our country''.
Dunedin protest organiser Karen Casey said 22 protests against synthetic cannabis were planned for New Zealand today, including in Invercargill and Dunedin.
The Dunedin protest would begin in the Octagon at 3pm and after an hour of speeches, the protesters would split up to picket outside synthetic cannabis stores.
More than 100 people had expressed interest in the protest action, she said.
