Twelve pupils from Shanghai high schools visiting Dunedin as part of the two cities' sister-city relationship were shown around Otago Polytechnic yesterday.
Being shown around by the polytechnic's international marketing manager, Susie Scott (foreground), are (front row, from left) English teacher Julia Cao, Kelin Huang (15), Wen Zheng (16), Rachel Wang (16), Jane Zhang (15), Lily Wang (16) and Cathy Li (16) and (back row, from left) Jamal Shen (16), Tim Wu (16), Alan Luo (16), Jacky Huang (16), Nicholas Zhou (17) and Sky Huang (17).
Polytechnic director of internationalisation Marc Doesburg said the trip was part of Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull's Shanghai sister-city education scholarship programme.
It was hoped some of the pupils would come back and study at one of Dunedin's tertiary institutions, but the visit was also about an exchange of cultures, with Dunedin students also having the opportunity to visit Shanghai, Mr Doesburg said.
