Mosgiel police are appealing for any witnesses after a North Taieri couple's home was burgled while they were in a shed 50m away.
Constable Don Peat said the couple heard a noise about 1pm yesterday and emerged from the shed to see a white, or off-white, late-model van pulling out of their Gordon Rd drive.
They went into their house to find several of their electronic goods had been stolen.
A neighbour told police the van pulled into their property about the same time and asked where the alpacas were (there was a sign not far from the homes for an alpaca farm), and then drove off.
There were two men in the van.
A Maori man of medium build, was wearing a black T-shirt and the other a man, ethnicity unknown, was wearing a white T-shirt.
The van was in good condition and distinctive by a full height window on the passenger side of the vehicle, Const Peat said.
If anyone had seen the van, or had any information about the incident, they should contact Mosgiel police.
