Dunedin Police are investigating on behalf of the coroner the unexplained death of a 36-year-old woman at a house in Karitane.
The woman was found early this morning around 6am.
Police are being assisted by Environmental Science and Research, and a pathologist in examining the scene.
Detective Senior Sergeant John Ferguson did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding the woman's death, but said the circumstances in which she was found were unusual.
The woman has yet to be formally identified and a post-mortem is not expected to be completed until Thursday.
Police are no longer looking for Karitane woman Grace Gardner, who had been missing for the past two days.
