The 2011 Dunedin Fringe Festival programme was launched at XII Below last night.

Guests were serenaded by a ukulele band on arrival.

Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull said the festival was "a dynamic front for arts in our community".

Festival director Paul Smith said 50 acts and more than 300 artists would be performing at the eighth festival, which will be officially launched in the Octagon on March 17.

The festival will run until March 27.
