CD Review:The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra

Having released a clutch of EPs on which they displayed a flair for deconstructing classic songs (such as Toto's mega hit, Africa) and reassembling them in their own quirky way.

The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra hasn't quite hit the mark on its debut full-length album.

Rifling through record collections in order to find material is always fraught with risk and, despite a couple of notable exceptions (David Kilgour's Today Is Gonna be Mine and Lorde's Team), the decision to focus on a range of much-covered Kiwi artists puts this collection in a basket labelled ''all too familiar''.
