A man will face court after allegedly attacking a pedestrian with an axe in Sydney's southwest.
Police say the victim was attacked by the axe-wielding 44-year-old about 1.30pm (AEDT) on Saturday on a street at Lurnea.
The attacker allegedly struck the man, aged in his 20s, a number of times with the axe before getting into a car and driving away.
The injured man was taken to hospital with serious head and leg injuries.
Police arrested the alleged attacker in Cabramatta and he was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
He was later charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was refused bail and is due to face Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
