Australia's Queen of Pop, Kylie Minogue, admires twerking sensation Miley Cyrus but acknowledges the 21-year-old's raunchy antics might be too much for some people.

Minogue was asked for her thoughts on Cyrus during an interview to promote her new album Kiss Me Once.

"I admire people like Miley, like Rihanna, girls that are just quite unapologetic about what they're doing," the 45-year-old Australian told Britain's Sky News.

"Is it too much? It depends on what your personal taste is. But she's definitely a scapegoat for what might be happening in the broader sense in pop music.

"Let's not forget there's always been sex, drugs and rock and roll."

Minogue said "guys seem to get away with it" more than female performers.

The former Neighbours star recently shocked BBC producers by herself twerking with one of the contestants on the UK version of The Voice.

Footage reportedly had to be edited because Minogue's bottom grinding was deemed too raunchy.

Twerking - a sexually provocative way of dancing - found public recognition due to Cyrus's controversial performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

Minogue today also reiterated her love for the royal family.

The singer isn't sure if she will be home when Prince William, Kate and baby George tour Australia in April but insists she'll be with them in spirit.

"This young generation of royals are just cool," Minogue said.

"They are dedicated to what they have to do but generally people love them, myself included."

On still being harassed by the British paparazzi, the 45-year-old admitted photographers could sometimes be "really nasty".

"It can sometimes make you feel like your house has been robbed ... like they've taken something from you."
