The iD Dunedin Fashion Festival runs until April 7, and the programme is online now.
There will be events for all fashion styles and budgets, including vintage, emerging and retail fashion shows, panel and expert talks, drop-in time with local designers, film, fashion-inspired food, workshops, exhibitions, pop-up stores and retail experiences.
iD event manager Victoria Muir is delighted by the number of events included in the first iD Fashion Festival.
"The programme is really exciting and will give our audiences some new and fun experiences," she said.
The festival offers many opportunities for insights into the world of fashion — past, present and future.
Paper Theory founder Tara Viggo will be moving her online sustainable pattern studio to Adjo cafe for a day, to offer pattern, sewing and fitting related advice.
Artist and museum guide Jeanne Dubois will live-stream from the Christian Dior museum in France to talk about the designer’s story, and will show archival material not seen before in New Zealand.
Meg Gallagher and Cynarra Ferguson will have a relaxed chat about starting as Dunedin high school pupils to living real-life Devil Wears Prada lives in their careers as a designer and a stylist.
Instead of the beloved Dunedin Railway Station runway show, the iD Fashion Festival will feature several catwalk events, including daytime pop-up runways on George St and an Otago Cancer Society fundraiser evening at Blueskin Nurseries & Cafe.
And of course it wouldn’t be an iD Dunedin Fashion experience without the talent of New Zealand’s young designers on display.
The fashion showcase As We Watch the World Go By, to be held on April 6 at King Edward Court, will feature 25 young designers from around the country. The show is organised by Imperfect Creatures, Je Pleure, New Life Studios, and Fringes Garments.
