Rugby: Breen shines as Alhambra trounce Zingari

Peter Breen played a leading role when Alhambra-Union scored seven tries to beat Zingari-Richmond 43-3 at Montecillo.

His speed off the mark gave momentum to the Alhambra-Union backline and his cut-out passes gave space to his outside backs.

The pack dominated with its strong scrum and efficient lineout.

The key players in the pack were locks Matt Kissick and Mitch Ewan, who cleaned out the lineout and were dangerous on the drive.

In the front row, Scott Manson and Liam Coltman made ground with the pick-and-go and Adam Anker was constructive at No 8.

Alhambra-Union scored five tries in the first spell and led 29-3 at the break.

Zingari tightened its game in the second spell, with No 8 Chris Bell carrying the ball up and flanker Kris Miller tackled well and had an industrious game.

It had scoring opportunities but poor handling by the backline proved costly.
