Decision time is looming for the connections of Belle Miraaj after her impressive win in Saturday's listed Southland Guineas.

The daughter of Iffraaj finished the southern 3yr old Triple Crown with two wins and a fourth to her name, and now the question is whether she presses on to the New Zealand Oaks at Trentham in March - and if she does go north, whether she has a lead up run.

''I'm probably having a meeting with her other owner [John Dooley] tomorrow and we'll have to make some decisions,'' Ascot Park trainer Gay Robinson said.

''There are a few options if we don't go. There's another meeting at Otago [on March 7] and two more at Christchurch. We'll make the decision whether we go or not then make that next decision.''

Belle Miraaj had been slow away in the Gore Guineas, but she jumped on terms at Ascot Park on Saturday in the hands of apprentice jockey Samantha Wynne.

''I would have preferred her to be there last start but, for some reason, he [jockey Jamie Bates] made the decision to pull back, which made it very difficult for her at Wingatui. She's usually up on the pace.''

The manner in which Belle Miraaj finished the 1600m suggests she will cope with a rise in distance, as Wynne put the whip away in the final 50m and let the filly go to the line under her own steam.

''She's probably like a lot of young horses when they get to the front they start saying 'where are my mates?', but I was rapt with her - absolutely delighted. She's eating up and seems absolutely happy.''

The Dennis brothers - Tony, Ray, Joe and Martin - continued their fine run of form, training three winners on Saturday including Invercargill Gold Cup winner The Bishop.

The son of Yamanin Vital was a winner over 2200m at Wingatui on February 6, and backed up in fine stylee on Saturday over 2600m to win the $40,000 feature by 2 lengths.

The brothers also prepared The Fascinator and The Barmaid to win races 1 and 2 on the card. The Barmaid was one of four winners for White Robe Lodge sire Gallant Guru at Ascot Park, with the other victories coming through Include in the open 1200m, Gallant Boy in the rating 65 1600m and Gunna Fly in the rating 75 2100m.
