The Southern Stampede on Saturday booked their ticket to defend the Birgel Cup at home.
The Queenstown national ice hockey league side beat the Canterbury Red Devils 6-0 and 9-6 in the resort at the weekend.
They needed to win both games to secure a home final and overtake the Botany Swarm.
After two great wins, they have earned the week off.
Botany Swarm will play the West Auckland Admirals in this weekend’s semifinal before the double-header final in two weeks’ time.
The Stampede were dominant in their 6-0 win on Friday,
import Brendan Walkom scoring 4 goals to see his side through.
Colin McIntosh had three assists.
Walkom scored a further 4 goals in the 9-6 win on Saturday.
McIntosh found the back of the net once, and had 3 assists, while Connor Harrison added the other goals.
