Swedish star Pernilla Lindberg will line up with the men during a wedding-anniversary holiday celebration in the Lakes district.
‘‘Pernilla was married here a year ago and is returning for their anniversary. She approached us when she realised our event was a week later and for her, it is about having fun. She will be playing off the same tees as the men, so it will be tough,” tournament director Michael Glading said.
Lindberg said she was ‘‘not trying to prove anything or take on the boys. It’s all about having a great experience and enjoying everything New Zealand has to offer.”
This will not be Lindberg’s first appearance in New Zealand; she finished second at the 2010 NZ Open.
