American golfer Robert Gates held on to win the New Zealand Open by one shot here today.
Gates closed with a two-over par 74 for a tournament card of 14-under 274, one ahead of Australian Andrew Dodt, who managed a 72.
American Jamie Lovemark shot the day's equal best score of 68 to finish outright third on 276.
