Veteran striker Phil Kelly has led the Plainsmen in this season's unbeaten run of Footballsouth Premier League matches, scoring nine goals in five games.
Kelly's strike rate of almost two goals per game is prodigious but, just as Mosgiel has operated in Technical's shadow this season, so Kelly has been overshadowed by deadly Technical striker Aaron Burgess, who has scored 17 goals from five games.
The stage could have been set for a goalfest at Memorial Park, but Burgess limped off last week with a hamstring injury.
Although it is responding well, it may make him a long shot to start against Mosgiel.
Burgess joined Technical's large queue at the physiotherapist in midweek, with long-term injuries to Ross McKenzie, Richard Smith, James Govan and Hayden Gunn, who added a fractured jaw recently to his earlier foot fracture.
Philosophical coach Mike Fridge is pleased with Technical's progress so far.
"When our injured players recover, it will be like new signings to boost our campaign in mid-season," he said.
Mosgiel's canny coach, Mike McGarry, is also pleased with his side's unbeaten progress.
A 2-2 draw against Spirit FC is the only blemish so far.
Apart from Kelly, Mosgiel's next-best hit man is Reagan Coldicott, a youngster with real pace and three goals to his credit.
The Plainsmen blend youth with experience as the Day brothers, Morgan and Curtis, compete in midfield, tall Tom Bekkers anchors central defence in front of either Alex Coles or Pat Howell, and McGarry adds his class wherever he plays.
In the early 12.45pm game, Caversham could have Patrick Fleming back from the United States to provide another severe test for coach Neil Mackenzie's Otago Youth at Tonga Park.
After a week off, Roslyn-Wakari travels to the Gardens to face Northern.
The home side's morale must be shot after losing 4-1 to University last week but, on that erratic pitch, anything could happen.
Boosted by its first win of the season, Grants Braes is capable of grabbing a point from University at Ocean Grove.
Second-bottom Green Island will need to show morale fibre to arrest its nose-diving form in Invercargill against Spirit FC.
