Two more wins put Green Island top

Green Island strung together back-to-back wins to move into top spot in the Dunedin premier club T20 competition.

The Swamp Rats followed up their six-wicket over Taieri in the opening round of the T20 competition with an 88-run win over Albion at Tonga Park on Thursday night and a three-wicket win over CDK at Bishopscourt on Saturday.

Yuvraj Khara whacked 56 to help CDK post 143 for eight on Saturday.

Brad Kneebone top-scored in the chase with 44, and Daniel Lawrence (11 not out) and Hamish Wilson (20 not out) put on an unbroken stand of 24 to secure the win for Green Island with three balls to spare.

Kneebone (45) and Elliot Santner (55 not out) helped set up the big win over Albion.

Green Island scored 182 for five.

Joel Meade had a cracking day out. He scored 39 and took three for 16 to help bowl out Albion for just 94.

University-Grange also won both their games in recent days.

Otago batter Dale Phillips clouted 115 from 52 balls to help University post a formidable 213 for six against CDK on Thursday. CDK gave the chase a good crack.

Phillips bowled him in the final over, completing a fine match with two for 25.

University-Grange also beat North East Valley in a low-scoring game at Bishopscourt.

The McKay brothers, Jarrod and Kaleb, took three wickets apiece to help roll University for 93.

Jacob Cumming top-scored with 40.

But the Swans collapsed to be all out for 55 in reply. Lahiru Vimukthi nabbed three for seven from four excellent overs.
