Albion 199 lost to North East Valley 202/3
North East Valley continues to remain undefeated in the Dunedin premier one-day competition.
This time it was Albion on the wrong end of the result.
Albion scrambled through to 199 at Logan Park thanks to 82 from Navjot Smith at No 8.
The McKay brothers did plenty of damage for the Swans. Jarrod grabbed three for 29 and Kaleb two for 24.
Sam Blakely snapped up two for 34 as well.
Thorn Parkes got the chase off to a solid start with 37 at the top of the innings and Hunter Kindley made 38.
But Oli White (75 not out from 68 balls) and Jeremy Smith (38 not out from 50 balls) secured the early finish with a quality stand of 108.
The win has further cemented the Swans (66 points)
spot at the top of the combined standings.
Albion (41 points) is in second with Taieri (40 points) tucked in behind in third place, while Green Island (32 points), CDK (28 points) and University-Grange (23 points) are further back.
University-Grange 245/9 beat Green Island 160
University-Grange captain Sebastian Lauderdale-Smith stroked 94 to help set up his side’s third win in the one-day competition and fourth win this season.
Grange posted 245 for nine at Sunnyvale and that proved too many for Green Island, which was bundled out for 160.
Jacob Cumming nabbed four for 35 and chipped in with 28 at the top of the innings in a 57-run stand with Lauderdale-Smith.
Younger brother Zac Cumming took two for 40, while Lahiru Vimukthi helped mop up the tail with three for five.
Just as an aside, the Green Island team featured players named Josh, Jacob, Joel, Jed, Jack and two Jakes. Not a single Joe in sight.
Anyway it was a Brad — Brad Kneebone — who top-scored with the bat for the Swamp Rats with 56 from 52.
He batted nicely but needed more support from the remainder of the order.
Taieri 387/6 beat CDK 179
Taieri rattled on a massive tally of 387 for six against defending champion CDK to record a 208-run win at Tonga Park.
Opener Cameron Jackson smashed a run-a-ball 125 and combined in a 248-run stand with Adam Jones.
Jones whacked 112 from 98 balls.
Between the pair, they swatted 11 sixes and 22 fours.
The hits kept coming.
Tom Dempster blasted 51 not out from 26 balls, adding another four sixes and threefours.
Tim Boyle joined the party with 44 from 29, clubbing four sixes and one boundary.
Given the carnage, Thomas O’Connor did well to nab two for 51 from his 10 overs for the Hounds.
Xavier Chisholm clipped 53 but the chase petered out pretty quickly.
Toby Hart took four for 34 and Sam Duff three for 57 to dismiss CDK for 179.
