Anthony, who has signed with the Otago Nuggets, has been sidelined for the past three weeks with a stress reaction injury in his left ankle.
His immediate playing future will be clearer later this week after he has had a scan to check on the injury's progress.
"At this stage he is pretty much doing low-impact activities and trying to maintain his fitness and his ankle strength," Breakers physiotherapist Anousith Bouaaphone said.
"In terms of the actual injury, he has another review with the orthopaedic surgeon in a couple of days' time, with an eye to getting another scan."
Bouaaphone said a stress reaction was a precursor to a stress fracture where the bone has been overloaded and is showing strain. Had Anthony continued to play and train, it could have led to a full-blown stress fracture.
"We won't know more until we get that second scan. That scan will show us whether he can start to load the bone without inflicting further damage ... and will determine how we manage his condition to make sure he does not go backwards."
If the bone has healed sufficiently, "we could push him and get him back playing", Bouaaphone said.
The Breakers have been going quite well in Anthony's absence, and he may not be required even if he is fit to return to court at some stage during the three-game series.
If that is the case, he could be released to play for the Nuggets, who keenly await his arrival.
