CD review

The title of Foley’s (Ash Wallace and Gabriel Everett) debut album Crowd Pleaser says it all, really.

The Aucklanders have been beavering away for a few years now, 2017 their breakthrough year, scoring a billboard in New York’s Times Square. Eleven million streams later, their much-anticipated album has arrived. Crowd Pleaser delivers danceable power pop at its best. Their songwriting and musicianship brings together a world-class hit of emotions and experiences. What Got Into You is the lead single and the creative chaos they bring comes together in a heady mix of sounds and vocal nuances. The duo are booked for Rhythm and Vines in December, where you’ll need to have your dancing shoes ready.

Meantime you’ll have heaps of fun listening to the album, especially to tracks like Coffee, Smooth it Over, Killing Me Babe and Nothing.

Foley sure picked the right name for their debut. Crowd Pleaser says it all.
