A large vegetation fire lit up a shed and many trees in Lake Hāwea yesterday.
A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said crews from Luggate and Lake Hāwea were called to the blaze in Grey Rd about 10pm.
There was ‘‘quite a decent glow’’ coming from the direction of the fire, so extra resources from Tarras and Alexandra were called.
Three lines of trees were ablaze - each line about 10 metres long - and a shed was fully engulfed, he said
Four fire trucks, two water tankers, a command unit and support vehicle attended.
The blaze was bought under control about midnight and the scene cleared.
However, a crew from Lake Hāwea was called back about 5.15am today after one of the trees re-ignited.
It was extinguished by 6am, the spokesman said.
