Police are still working to locate one person following a boat going missing with two people aboard on Lake Hauroko last week.

Search co-ordinator Sergeant Ian Martin, of Invercargill, said the search would resume from today after the lake level dropped.

The search was put on hold for two days after the lake rose about 400mm, which made search conditions difficult.

''Maritime New Zealand and police will continue the search for any kind of evidence. We are asking residents to contact us if they find any debris in the region.''

Police were notified late Friday the boat and its two occupants were missing.

Eighteen people were involved in ''an extensive search on the lake and adjoining Wairaurahiri River'' during the weekend.

The body of a 69-year-old woman was found on the first day and the police recovered debris on Sunday.

Her 65-year-old partner and the boat are still missing.
