Teen faces charges

An 18-year-old Clinton man faces charges of drink-driving, burglary and possessing drug utensils after being arrested early on Wednesday.

Sergeant Martin Bull, of Balclutha, said the Clinton Golf Club was broken into about 10.30pm on Tuesday and alcohol and cash taken.

Police received reports of a red 4WD utility vehicle leaving the club.

A utility vehicle was stopped by police in Clinton, and an 18-year-old Clinton man was charged with driving with a blood-alcohol level of 341mcg.

A search of the car uncovered allegedly stolen property, gloves and a wheel brace, Sgt Bull said.

The drugs charge followed the execution of a search warrant at the teenager's address the next morning.

A quad bike collision in which two Balclutha men were injured could result in the men facing charges, Sgt Bull said.

The men, aged 23 and 38, were riding in Summerhill Rd, near Kaitangata.

Both men were allegedly intoxicated, neither held a licence and the bikes were not registered or warranted, Sgt Bull said.

"The younger man was taken to Dunedin Hospital for X-rays. The older man was kept in Clutha Health First overnight for assessment."
