Catlins Promotions project co-ordinator Kim Dodds said the event was really successful, with about 50 people aged between 15 and 68 entering the main ride.
Adraian Stott, of Owaka, received free entry to next year's ride for being the last person to enter.
She made the decision 24 hours before the race started.
"I'd been really busy and I hadn't done any training, so I'd been putting it off."
Her lack of training caught up with her at the 60km point.
"I was very sore yesterday," she said.
Mrs Stott also won the main prize of a Bauer bike and helmet for her effort.
Jocelyn Paterson, of Queenstown, had not done much training for the event either.
"I was a bit sore [on Saturday] night.
There were a few sore bottoms."
Ms Paterson said she was in the last four for most of the race, which didn't matter, because "it's not a race - it's an event to enjoy".
"You meet some awesome people.
We stopped off at different places and took photos.
"It was so much fun."
The riders visited several Catlins landmarks, including Curio Bay, Tautuku and Papatowai.
Mrs Dodds said there were big plans for next year's event, and she was hoping to announce the race format and route for the 2011 race next month.
