Two men facing assault and behaviour charges

Two men will appear in the Queenstown District Court today charged with assault after an  incident at the weekend, police say.

A media spokesman said, in an emailed statement, the pair, both locals, became "violent when they were asked to leave a bar on Searle Lane as they were intoxicated".

Both face charges of common assault and disorderly behaviour likely to cause violence, following the incident at 2.05am yesterday.

● A Queenstown man crashed his vehicle into a lamppost on Ladies Mile Highway, at Frankton, about 11.40pm on Friday.

He has been charged with driving with an excess breath-alcohol level.

● Fights were also reported in central Queenstown at the weekend. However, when police arrived there was no sign of them.
