Southern skifields received up to 20cm of snow on Tuesday, providing perfect spring skiing conditions on the mountains yesterday.

The Remarkables recorded 20cm while Coronet Peak and the four Wanaka skifields received between 2cm and 5cm of snow on Tuesday night.

A southerly front on Monday and Tuesday brought the snow.

Remarkables Ski Area manager Ross Lawrence said the recent snow and forecasted further snow meant the ski area was in for some sensational spring skiing, with just over four weeks until the field was scheduled to close for the year.

Wanaka skifields say they have enough snow for a few weeks' skiing. The season is scheduled to end there on October 2.
