Police still working on arson cases

Wanaka police have had no luck identifying the culprits behind 10 fires lit deliberately in the town since January 9.

Senior Sergeant Allan Grindell said the public had been helpful with information after publicity this week and Detective Dave Evans had been "flat out" working through it yesterday.

"At this point, we still haven't solved it.

"And I suppose we are not 100% sure the latest incidents are related to the others.

"But we have lots of information," he said.

The police have urged people to contact the anonymous Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 charitable agency with information if they felt uncomfortable contacting police about a family member, friend or flatmate.
