Police have spoken to two 14-year-old boys regarding 12 cars broken into in the Frankton area overnight Wednesday.
Sergeant Steve Watt said 12 residents of McBride, Stewart and Gray Streets reported their cars broken into on Thursday.
One vehicle was also taken for a ride and ended up about 2m into Lake Wakatipu at Frankton.
Some of the cars had broken windows and various items, including stereos, were stolen.
Police executed a search warrant at the boys' houses yesterday.
No charges have been laid.
Two 17-year-old Nelson youths were arrested in Invercargill yesterday and charged with breaking into four cars in the Wakatipu area last week.
The boys were accused of breaking into three cars in Arrowtown and one in Lake Hayes Estate on December 11, Sgt Watt said.
They are due to appear in the Queenstown District Court next month.
