Pizza franchise set to open in Queenstown next month

After a five-year wait, a Domino's pizza franchise is getting ready to open in Queenstown next month.

Domino's national recruitment and construction manager, Bram Milne-Rodrigues, of Auckland, said the Shotover St store would likely begin its fitting out next week, with staff recruitment also under way.

Nationally, Domino's has 84 stores, part of more than 400 in New Zealand, Australia, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Japan, employing more than 21,000 part-time and full-time staff.

The Queenstown franchise, owned by Keith Bowler, would employ up to 20 staff, a mix of part and full-time, Mr Milne-Rodrigues said.

''Staff recruitment is under way. What's great about it is it's going to create jobs for the local community.''

The store would also be fitted out with the latest Domino's design, first introduced in the Paddington, Brisbane and Surfer's Paradise outlets in 2011.

He said the ''entice design'' was more interactive, with pizzas being made at the front of the store so customers could watch their orders being made, along with live television, enabling them to track their orders.

The Queenstown Domino's would also feature local historic images to personalise it, Mr Milne-Rodrigues said.

The franchise would also offer home delivery, but that would not include Arrowtown.

Domino's aimed for home delivery within 22 minutes of an order being placed - ''25 minutes at the most''.
