A second Aussie rules team is due to arrive in Queenstown later this month for a training camp which will be ''as much about the head as it is the body''.
The Collingwood Magpies will spend seven days in the resort, taking part in training, conditioning and development sessions, including an adventure race.
Football director Neil Balme said the trip would provide a welcome change of scenery for the players given the longer pre-season this year.
The team had a strong pre-Christmas training period but still had some time before the season begins in April.
''Any training camp like this provides a positive benefit and a boost in mentality. It will be as much about the head as it is the body,'' Mr Balme said.
The team finished 11th last season and did not qualify for the finals series, winning 11 of its 22 games.
The resort hosted the St Kilda Saints for a 10-day high-performance camp in December, its first visit to Queenstown since 2011.
This will be the first visit to New Zealand for the Magpies, whose members previously favoured Arizona for pre-season training.
