Rob Andrews, Terry Youngman and Chris Tate will climb the Sky Tower, Auckland, on May 22 in aid of the Leukaemia and Blood Foundation.
To raise money for the climb, the fire brigade is holding a quiz night and auction at the Arrowtown Hall on February 24.
Auction prizes include a signed 2009 All Blacks jersey, accommodation for two at the Hermitage Hotel and Kinloch Lodge, ski passes, jet-boat trips and dinner vouchers - and three firefighters.
Mr Andrews said the men were offering their skills to the highest bidder.
"We thought it was a novel thing to do because we all have different skills. Terry's a plumber, Chris is a builder and I'm in marketing and IT. But we'll do whatever needs to be done; you name it," he said.
The men would do anything from garden work to house chores for about four hours.
The three men are clearly not afraid of hard work - they plan to run up 51 flights, or 1100 steps, to the top of the 328m Sky Tower while wearing 26kg of gear.
Mr Andrews said the three firefighters started training in October for the challenge.
"No-one from Arrowtown had ever done the climb before so we thought we'd give it a go," he said.
The three aim to raise about $5000 for charity.
The quiz costs $20 for a team of four and starts at 7pm.
