Four Arrowtown volunteer firefighters have already raised about $7500 for the Leukaemia and Blood Foundation - before taking on the daunting stairway of Auckland's Sky Tower.
Terry Youngman, Rob Andrews, John Hillock and Chris Tate will take on the Tower in May, in the Firefighters Sky Tower Vertical Challenge.
Queenstown's Exposure Model and Talent Agency has contributed $1000 to the kitty. Spokeswoman Sunny Sky said the agency was providing 10 actors for a corporate conference in Queenstown this weekend.
The actors would dress up as paparazzi photographers and pretend the delegates were celebrities as they walked up the red carpet.
"Each person's time and efforts will contribute $70 towards the fire brigade's fundraiser plus Exposure Talent will donate, making a total of $1000," she said.
The four firefighters have been training for several months for the gruelling climb of more than 1100 stairs.
The Arrowtown brigade has sponsored the trip to Auckland.
Co-ordinator Julie Hughes, of Arrow Events, said the team hoped to raise up to $5000.
"So it's blown all our expectations. We're . . . now aiming for $10,000."
