Fast strategy to improve health

A man known as the ''Fast-Master'' will share his story and philosophies about ''regular intelligent fasting'' (RIF) in Queenstown next month.

Jason Shon Bennett, of Auckland, was once a chronic asthmatic and prone to catching seasonal illnesses, including colds, flus and viruses.

However, after making a decision to overhaul his diet and incorporating regular ''intelligent'' fasting into his weekly routine, Mr Bennett said he had been without illness and medication - including his asthma inhaler - for 20 years.

His philosophy is based on observations humans were ''designed to fast'', similar to most animals who endured lean periods caused by famine and disasters.

''In the modern world, where many people over-eat, fasting regularly and 'intelligently' alongside ... small diet and lifestyle changes is an easy way to mimic this natural pattern and, in doing so, help ward off the precursors of chronic illnesses including heart disease, diabetes and cancer.''

Now a health mentor, international speaker and author, Mr Bennett - along with his team of qualified naturopaths, nutritionists and wholefoods chefs - was sharing his ''life plan'' with those interested in learning about how RIF could help break food addictions and transform gut and bowel health, among other things.

Mr Bennett will be speaking on October 17 at the Tanoa Aspen Hotel, Fernhill, from 7pm.

• The event costs $30 per person, or $25 per person for two or more people who book at the same time. Bookings are essential and can be made by emailing info@jasonshonbennet.com.
