Queenstown's Good Group Ltd will open a bar at Queenstown Airport, as well as take over the cafe.
The company, which owns bars and restaurants in Queenstown, Wanaka, Arrowtown and Franz Josef, will open the bar early next year.
Sales and marketing manager Sarah Stacey said the company would take over the cafe on October 19.
"We will be keeping on all existing staff and step into the operation, but will focus on enhancing and expanding the food on offer there," she said.
More food would be cooked on site, with dishes influenced by the company's Botswana Butchery restaurants.
She said the company was "really excited" to be opening a bar because there were no existing bar facilities in the airport building.
The company hoped the bar would be open for business in January.
"Most airport facilities have them. I think it will add value to Queenstown," she said.
"Queenstown Airport Corporation chief executive Steve Sanderson said Good Group had signed a new six-year lease for a bar adjacent to the cafe.
"It's always been on the list of opportunities we'd like to give our customers," he said.
He understood the bar would have a sports theme.
The cafe's present lease holder, Doug Bishop, had signed the remaining two years of his lease over to Goodbars, he said.
Mr Bishop said he had sold his business, Queenstown Airport Cafe (2007) Ltd, to Good Group Ltd for "money" reasons.
Good Group owns Barmuda, Bardeaux, Skybar, Harry's and Botswana Butchery.
