Appeals from police have led to information surfacing regarding a former Queenstown resident thought missing in the Nelson area.

Police are concerned for the safety of Timothy Gary Donald (32), who had recently moved to Kaiteriteri.

Mr Donald had not been heard from in a week, prompting police to issue appeals yesterday for sightings of him.

Several people have since come forward with information and it has been established that Mr Donald spent the weekend in Golden Bay.

However, it is not known if he is still in that area.

Detective John Nicholls, of Motueka, said that prior to the new information, Mr Donald was last heard from on October 15 when he sent a text to his employer saying he felt unwell and would not be going to work.

"We know where he has been, but we are still to locate him so I would appreciate a call from anyone who sees him or his vehicle."

His vehicle, a silver Mitsubishi SE Saloon, registration YX5539, was also missing.

Mr Donald is described as European, 185cm in height, of medium build with light brown hair.

Det Nicholls said anyone with information about Mr Donald's whereabouts was asked to contact either the Motueka Police Station on (03) 528-1220 or their local police station.
