The proposed mural designed to transform Countdown supermarket's large, white wall on Oamaru's main street has been approved.
The murals were designed by local artists Watts Davies, Trish Shirley and Donna Demente.
The project, co-ordinated by Ken Laraman, will depict a panorama of Oamaru and Waitaki district scenes in 10 or 11 panels.
The panels will be enlarged on to vinyl and applied to the wall, with an anti-graffiti coating.
Waitaki Mayor Gary Kircher said he and Donna Demente would meet Countdown representatives this week to discuss the installation process.
The panels were likely to be revealed one at a time.
He said options for transforming the supermarket's large, plain wall with a mural were investigated after pressure from the public on social media about a year ago.
