Kaylee Bell, from Waimate, will be Sheeran’s opening act for all six of his New Zealand shows starting next week.
It was a "pretty phenomenal" feeling, she said.
"It’s a bit of a dream come true."
She is a big fan of the British artist’s work.
"He’s probably one of my favourite pop writers and artists. So I just can’t wait to meet him and learn from him and his team."
Sheeran is playing six concerts in Wellington and Auckland.
Growing up in Waimate, Bell always dreamed of performing at large stadiums.
"To be playing Eden Park is ... honestly just dream kind of material.
"It’s something that you think one day might happen, but to be doing it with Ed Sheeran is just a whole other level."
Her single Keith has more than 14million streams on Spotify alone and with more than 40million streams in total, she has been the most streamed female country artist in Australasia for the past four years.
Last year she opened for Six60 on their stadium tour, headlined Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park and opened for United States country star Brad Paisley on the New Zealand leg of his world tour.
She now splits her time between Nashville, Auckland and Australia.
