No decision on school

Hampden School does not want to decide what happens to Otepopo School at Herbert The Ministry of Education was asked to consult the boards of trustees at Hampden, Maheno and Weston schools on the possibility of retaining education at the Otepopo site as a second campus of one of the schools.

Education Minister Anne Tolley said last week she had listened to the views of the community and had tried to find a "locally driven solution".

Hampden board chairman Ian Carter said on Friday the board believed Otepopo should make the decision on what happened with its school and it should not be the responsibility of Hampden's board to make that decision.

The boards of the three schools met ministry representatives on Thursday to find out more about the proposal.
