The township of Naseby, which usually boasts a population of little more than 100, swells with holiday-makers at this time of year and the evidence was clear to see in the town's park yesterday afternoon.

Naseby fun day organiser Bill Morice estimated about 1000 people - locals, holiday-makers and day trippers - turned out for the annual event.

Pictured above, Stew Francis, of Naseby, drove many rounds of the park taking children for rides behind his quad bike, while at right, Maisie Short (5), of Wellington, enjoys the water slide made by the Naseby Volunteer Fire Brigade.

Organised events included three-legged, egg and spoon, sack and wheelbarrow races, as well as a team challenge obstacle course.

There were also some market stalls selling crafts and local produce, a sausage sizzle, a chocolate lottery and train-type rides.
