Waitaki athletes and sports teams have celebrated some ''outstanding'' successes in 2014, and Network Waitaki Sports Awards organisers hope to see a large number of nominations for this year's awards.
Nominations are now open for the awards.
North Otago Sports Bodies president Peter Simpson encouraged all sports organisations and schools to nominate their successful athletes, coaches, and administrators.
Sport Waitaki co-ordinator Kate Holland said the awards were ''the perfect opportunity for clubs, teams and schools to recognise the success of our athletes and the dedication of our coaches and administrator''.
Network Waitaki and 10 local category sponsors are continuing their support for the 2014 awards.
Nominations are open until 5pm on December 19.
A judging panel will then review the nominations and the awards evening will be held at the Oamaru Opera house on March 9, 2015.
Categories for the 2014 Network Waitaki Sports Awards are: Emerging talent award (year 8 pupil 2014); junior sportswoman of the year (18 years or under as of January 1, 2014); Denis Birtles Memorial Services to Sport (for lifetime service to sport); team of the year; coach of the year; masters sportsperson of the year (over 50 as of January 1, 2014); sportsperson of the year, athlete with a disability and junior sportsman of the year (18 and under as of January 1, 2014).
Winners of the individual athletes' awards will then be in the running to win the Network Waitaki Supreme Award.
